AI DESIGNED AND BUILT
Arturo Tedeschi, together with STUD-IO and Wies Offsite, realized one of the first built examples of an AI-driven architectural process. The project began with conceptual images generated through Midjourney and Stable Diffusion, which served as the foundation for the design. These visuals were then translated into a 3D mesh model using algorithmic edge detection, triangulation processes, and manual refinement to achieve the necessary geometric clarity. To bridge the gap between concept and fabrication, STUD-IO’s StudFinder software played a crucial role, streamlining modeling and detailing while ensuring precision and compliance with construction constraints. The tool automatically produced manufacturable solutions and generated machine-ready files for a FrameCAD steel stud roll forming system at Wies Offsite in St. Louis, Missouri. The collaboration highlights a new paradigm where artificial intelligence, algorithmic modeling, and advanced fabrication seamlessly integrate, opening the door to innovative architectural practices.
